The gorgeous Mumtaz is one of the most versatile actresses of the 70s, who carved a niche for herself in the Hindi film industry, without being a typecast. Born into poverty in an urban slum in Mumbai, Mumtaz made her acting debut at the age of 11 and went on to become the highest-paid actress in the entertainment industry from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s.
Throughout her career, Mumtaz has given many hit films and was linked to many of her co-stars. Just like her professional life, Mumtaz had made headlines for her personal life too. Be it speculations about her marriage with Shammi Kapoor or her linkup with Feroz Khan, Mumtaz has always been in the limelight. However, the actress tied the knot in 1974 with businessman, Mayur Madhvani and the couple is proud parents to two daughters.

While scrolling through our social media handle, we stumbled upon a throwback picture of Mumtaz from her wedding day. The picture was truly priceless as it also featured her good friend and actress, Dimple Kapadia. In the picture, Mumtaz was dressed in her bridal attire and was seen showing her wedding ring to Dimple. On the other hand, Dimple looked stunning in a saree, taking a close look at Mumtaz’s ring.
Mumtaz shares a great bond with Dimple Kapadia as she was quite close to Dimple’s husband, Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz starred in ten films together like Do Raaste, Prem Kahani, Apna Desh, Aap Ki Kasam and a few others. When Rajesh Khanna got married to actress, Dimple Kapadia, Mumtaz was shocked by his decision. Talking about the same, Mumtaz stated:
"Rajesh Khanna had a steady woman in his life, Anju Mahendroo for 10 years. We all thought he would marry her, but one fine morning he announced that he’s marrying Dimpy (Dimple Kapadia) and shocked everybody."

Rajesh Khanna passed away in 2012, and after his death, Mumtaz revealed that he was suffering from cancer and had also undergone chemotherapy. On the other hand, Mumtaz too was detected with breast cancer at the age of 54. In a throwback interview with PTI, Mumtaz revealed how she and Rajesh had bonded over their illness. Revealing details about the same, Mumtaz had shared:
“He told me that I am a strong person and that he knew what I had gone through, the chemotherapy sessions. He said he did not feel hungry, and we joked that when lots of food was ordered for him, it was later enjoyed by all, except him."
Once in an interview with a leading daily, Mumtaz revealed that both she and her husband had extramarital affairs. In the same interview, she also stated that the affairs were short-term and were not at all serious ones. Talking about her husband’s affair, Mumtaz stated that he himself confessed about the same to her.
