Anil Ambani and Tina Ambani's support and dedication for each other started much before their wedding. It was when Anil first saw Tina at a wedding and was mesmerised by the choice of colour for the saree. According to him, it was Tina’s black saree which was out-of-the-box in the entire wedding ceremony. Afterwards, the duo met in Philadelphia, and he asked her out. But, since Tina was already used to getting such proposals from unknown men, she politely declined Anil’s offer.
Later, in 1986, Anil was again introduced to Tina by her nephew, who insisted her to meet this “Gujarati” boy. However, when Anil's family learnt about his affair with Tina, they were not very pleased. Moreover, since they had certain notions about the people from the film industry, they were against Anil's marriage to Tina. And then, it was Anil, who worked hard to make his family understand that Tina was just a simple girl. And for four years, after convincing the Ambanis, who were adamant about their decision, Anil finally convinced his family to accept that Tina is the girl best suited for him. Some years back, Anil Ambani and his wife, Tina Ambani appeared on Simi Garewal's talk show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal. After the sudden demise of Dhirubhai Ambani in 2002, there was no clear succession plan. It led to a bickering between Anil and his brother Mukesh. And after an inevitable clash between the two brothers, their mother, Kokilaben mediated and split the family-owned businesses in two parts. Mukesh had taken responsibility for the oil and petrochemical, whereas Anil had kept the power and telecom businesses. Later in 2019, when the court gave Anil a deadline to pay his dues of around Rs. 460 crores to RCom's operational creditor, Ericsson.
This happened in 2014 when Anil's Reliance Entertainment was piled with debts; consequently, he had to sell hundreds of screens. Anil's shifting to unrelated glam businesses was the reason for the loss, and he had then recklessly rushed into several businesses in one go to achieve his unchecked ambitions, leading to complete bankruptcy. However, it was then in 2019, when his brother, Mukesh, came forward to help him. Mukesh had paid Anil's dues from his personal wealth, and Anil was touched by this gesture of his brother. And in February 2020, Anil declared during one of his interviews that his net worth is zero and he is bankrupt, although the veracity of that claim is in question. However, Tina never left Anil to deal with all of this by himself. Instead, she stood behind him like a pillar of strength.
A day after Anil Ambani appeared before the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) office, his wife, Tina Ambani appeared before the central agency on July 4, 2023, concerning an investigation linked to the alleged contravention of the foreign exchange law.
