Sanjay Dutt - a name which became synonymous to controversies, and we all got a glimpse of the same in his biopic, Sanju. Sanjay’s biopic gave us a clear picture that being a celebrity is not a cakewalk and it comes with its own pros and cons. Amidst the not-so-glamourous life, multiple allegations on him and his jail term, it was Sanjay’s family, who stood as a pillar of strength for him. Ever since the end of his jail term, Sanjay is on cloud nine on the personal as well as professional front. Until sometime back, the reports were rife that the gap between Sanjay Dutt and his eldest daughter, Trishala Dutt had gone beyond the geographical distance. Sanjay has three children, a daughter, Trishala Dutt from his first wife, Richa Sharma and twins, Shahraan Dutt and Iqra Dutt from his third wife, Maanayata Dutt. Post Richa’s demise, Trishala has been living with her maternal grandparents in London. A few months back, a close friend of Sanjay had shared with Bollywood Hungama, "It seems Sanju has shut the door on Trishala. They don’t communicate at all. He has zero knowledge of what goes in her life. There is no connect, direct or indirect, between them."

For the first time since the reports about her fallout with father, Sanjay Dutt emerged in the media, Trishala Dutt clarified the speculations on Instagram. In an ‘Ask Me Anything’ feature on Instagram, a follower asked Trishala, “Rumours going around saying you and your father are not on good terms. Please confirm?” To which, Trishala replied, “Please do not believe everything that is written in tabloids. I don’t know where or who that came from but No, it’s not true” followed by an eye roll, thumbs down and facepalm emoji. The background of her reply has a Boomerang video of Sanjay and Trishala wherein he is giving a peck on her cheek. Check out a screenshot of the same:
Also, amidst the reports of the rift between Sanjay Dutt and Trishala Dutt, a sweet gesture from his wife, Maanayata Dutt had proved that all is well between the father-daughter duo. The past few months have been tough for Trishala, as her Italian boyfriend had passed away at an early age and she had to cope with the loss. Then if that wasn't all, the reports of her fallout with her dad made it to the headlines. On August 24, 2019, Trishala had posted a gorgeous picture of herself, flaunting her extremely gorgeous beach waves hairstyle. Maanayata couldn’t resist herself from complimenting Trishala on her oh-so-gorgeous picture and had written, “Beauty”.
In a Hindustan Times interview in 2015, Trishala Dutt had opened up about how she dealt with her father’s jail term, how the situation has strengthened her and why she never wanted to be just another star kid on the block. Revealing how her dad’s jail term made her realise that it’s time for her to grow up instead of crying at the situation, Trishala had said, “We write letters to each other all the time, so that’s how we keep in touch. When he went to jail, and I knew I wasn’t going to hear regularly from him for the next two-three years, that’s when I realised that it’s time to grow up. Yes, I was sad, but I had to be strong for my family and myself. I’m not a child anymore, and I think some people forget that, and expected me to cry publicly, because everyone has seen me in my baby stages while I was growing up in Bollywood, but that’s not who I am anymore. Tough situations really strengthen you as a person.” (Also Read: Tiger Shroff And Disha Patani Spotted On A Dinner Date, He Cheered For Her After 'Malang' Pack-Up)

Hailing from a star family, Trishala Dutt didn’t want to be just another star kid. Speaking along the similar lines, Trishala had stated, “I never wanted to be like the other “star children”, and piggyback on the family name. If I did, how would I be different from anyone else? I really respect actors who worked hard and made it on their own, without the help from anyone else, except their own will and determination. I’m currently doing that, and it feels great to build something on your own. Anyone who has worked hard for what they have today should know the feeling I’m talking about. There are so many challenges out there. I’ve faced many, and I’ve faced rejection as well. Rejection is what made me work harder, it did not weaken me. Whenever I see a hurdle coming my way, I just shrug it off and welcome the challenge with open arms.”
Recalling the time when she had missed her dad, Sanjay Dutt a lot, Trishala Dutt had remarked, “I’m still learning what the definition of "friend" means. I recently had an incident, where I expected my close friends to be there for me when I really needed them, and they were not present. I felt like calling up my father when this happened, because in one of his letters, he told me very clearly, "Don’t do everything for your friends, never let someone use you, don’t be stupid like I was". His words were haunting me that day when I needed my friends to be there for me, and when they were not. I felt so stupid. I think that was the first time I felt lonely and missed my father a lot. He would have been the perfect person to tell me what had happened, and given me great advice on how to handle that situation. But I got a good life lesson out of that.”
In another interview with the Hindustan Times, Trishala Dutt had revealed how Sanjay Dutt is, as a father. She had elaborated, “I can tell you the one thing that I learned from him in spite of not even living with him, is that No means No. And there's no question about it afterwards. He's extremely loving when he wants to be, he can fool around with you when he's in the mood but he's strict as well. I think he's stubborn, and so am I. When we don't agree on certain things it can be a problem. We love each other at the end of the day.” And a gift that he had given her which she cherishes till date, Trishala had continued, “Loving phonecalls, and the amount of time and love he gave me when I was younger.” (Also Read: Disha Vakani All Set For A Comeback On 'Taarak Mehta...'
