Urmila Matondkar got married to the love of her life, Mohsin Akhtar Mir, on March 3, 2016, at an intimate inter-faith wedding ceremony at her residence in Mumbai. The only person from the industry who was invited to Urmila and Mohsin's wedding was the ace fashion designer, Manisha Malhotra. The reason behind it was that the couple met for the first time at Manish Malhotra's niece, Riddhi Malhotra's wedding in 2014. For the uninitiated, Urmila and Mohsin's Hindu wedding was followed by a traditional nikah ceremony. The couple led a happy marital life away from the constant media spotlight until September 24, 2024.

Motherhood should happen for the right reason. I love children. But there are so many children out there who need our love and care. It's not necessary that they be born from you."
