Varun Dhawan Feels Guilty Daily Since Daughter Lara's Birth, 'When I Work, I Feel I'm Not There...'

Varun Dhawan and his wife, Natasha Dalal, embarked on one of life's most transformative experiences, namely parenthood, on June 3, 2024. For the unversed, that was the day the couple welcomed their precious daughter, Lara, into the world. Never one to back away from his professional commitments, Varun has been learning to balance his new responsibilities as a father with work. That said, not being able to spend time with one's wife and newborn baby girl would take a toll on anyone, and Varun is no different. Recently, the actor opened up about the guilt he feels when he is away from his family and also expressed his deep admiration for his 'superhero' wife.

Varun Dhawan feels guilty about not spending time with his baby girl, Lara, amid his hectic work schedule

Varun Dhawan recently had a heartfelt interaction with GQ India, during which he opened up about the profound transformation his life had undergone following the birth of his little princess, Lara. While becoming a father had instantly changed him, the actor confessed that it had also instilled in him immense guilt. The constant demands of his packed schedule were the cause for the same.

Varun has had a busy year in 2024. He hopped from promoting projects like Citadel: Honey Bunny and Baby John to shooting for films such as Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and his father's film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Amid this busy work schedule, Varun has spent only a little time at home since his daughter was born in June. The actor was asked if he felt any guilt about missing out on the early months of his baby girl's life. Well, Varun honestly admitted that the guilt ate away at him every day. He said:

"There's a lot of guilt. I feel that every day. I feel that when I work. I feel like I'm not there."

However, the Bhediya actor also stated that despite his strong desire to be present with his daughter, taking time off from work for an extended period wasn't feasible. Varun has planned to set aside a few days in December to spend time with Lara and Natasha, but the duration might not be long enough. The actor is set to start filming Border 2 soon after this break.

Varun Dhawan says seeing his wife, Natasha and their daughter together brought back childhood memories

During the conversation with GQ, Varun Dhawan also lauded his wife and new mommy, Natasha Dalal, calling her 'a superhero.' The actor revealed that he was in awe of her strength and resilience. Varun further went on to say that seeing his wife and their beautiful baby girl together brought back memories of his own child.

However, rather than recalling the good times, Varun thought of the moments when he had been rude to his own mother. According to the actor, when he saw Natasha and Lara together, he regretted how he had behaved with his mother because he realised that women made immense sacrifices to bring a child into the world. Varun further stated that he believed men would never fully comprehend such sacrifices.

When Varun Dhawan talked about the protective drive he felt since his daughter's birth

In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Varun Dhawan candidly expressed how fatherhood had altered his perspective towards life. Talking about how parenthood changes people, Varun said:

"I think when any individual, any man becomes a parent, for the mother it is a different experience, I feel she becomes a tigress, that moment only something happens. But, as a man, I'd say, that when we become parents, for some reason, you feel a protection towards your daughter. I am sure you feel for sons also but towards the daughter… If anyone causes even so much (little) harm to her I'd kill them. I am dead serious when I say that. Literally, I'd kill them."
