David Dhawan Recalls His Son, Varun Being Insecure Of Sidharth During 'SOTY' 'He Used To Be Upset..'

Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, and Alia Bhatt made their acting debut with the film, Student Of The Year, and the movie has a separate fan base. Moreover, the equation of these three actors is pure goals. Well, recently David Dhawan sat for an interview and talked about his son. He also revealed how his son, Varun used to be insure of Sidharth and it even made him super upset while filming SOTY.

Varun Dhawan's father, David said he was strict with his son in the initial years

In a recent interview on Arbaaz Khan's The Invincibles Series, David Dhawan talked about the initial days of his son, Varun's caree. He stated that in the initial years, he was a bit strict with Varun. The filmmaker said that he and his wife wanted their son to be a banker. Talking about the same, David said:

"He came back from abroad after studying, and I asked, ‘What do you want to do in life?’ Lalli said, ‘Everyone is taking up a bank job these days’. We never talked about films."

David Dhawan mentioned that they never talked about the films at home, but Varun suddenly went up to Karan Johar and expressed his desire to assist him. David revealed that after that, they went abroad to work on the film, My Name Is Khan, and it was cameraman, Ravi Chandran who asked KJo to keep an eye on the actor. Going further in the interview, David Dhawan shared that Karan Johar one day came to their home and expressed his desire to launch Varun.

When there are two heroes in a movie, then the sense of insecurity often comes down the way. The same thing happened with Varun Dhawan while shooting for Student Of The Year, which also featured Sidharth Malhotra. David stated that he used to go on sets with Varun often and noticed that his son was upset. Indicating that Varun was a bit insecure with Sidharth, David said that when it's a two-hero-based film, then things like this can happen. He also praised his son and mentioned that he is too good at what he does, and his confidence is something else. David can be quoted as saying:

"I was with him, and some days he used to be very upset also. I told him, ‘These things happen in two-hero films. Listen, my son, you’re damn good. Your confidence is something else. Don’t be afraid, take the leap’.”

While being on Koffee With Karan 8, Varun and Sidharth shared a lot of details about their personal and professional lives. When asked about what kind of equation they share now, Varun and Sidharth revealed that they are not like best buddies.

As they haven't worked together for several years now, they have kind of lost touch. Sidharth added that if they ever get together at parties or social gatherings, they stick to each other in a corner and enjoy the evening with each other, so that is the kind of bonding they share now.
