Vikas Sethi was one of the most renowned actors of Telly town. He gained widespread fame with his portrayal of antagonistic characters on screen. Apart from his impressive stint in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Vikas' character in Bollywood's blockbuster Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham will always be memorable. Although his portrayal of the role, 'Robbie', was a few minutes long, people to date remember him for that specific character.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was one of the massive blockbusters back in the day, and to date, it is considered as a cult classic. People have rewatched the movie multiple times, and there is no way one can miss out on the character of 'Robbie', who was Kareena Kapoor's admirer in the film. While the role was relatively short and hardly had any dialogue, Vikas' acting made the character come live on-screen, and people loved him. John once appeared on Koffee With Karan, where he revealed that Karan Johar first offered him the role of 'Robbie' and spoke very highly of the role. But when he read the script, he did not like it and refused to play it. In John's words:
"He offered me the role of Robbie who was Kareena's boyfriend. Karan so sincerely offered me that film, he was like, 'John, it's a lovely role and this and that."
In the same episode, Karan revealed that when he met John, he never thought that the latter would be able to become an actor. Karan added that he saw, John as a model who looked great on the ramp but was unsure about his acting abilities. In Karan's words:
"I knew John because I was one of the judges when John was on Gladrags. He came to me and I was like, 'Poor fellow, why does he want to become a hero? I thought he is the kind of model who would be great on the ramp but definitely not on screen. This is why, when he came to me, I told him, 'You should weigh your options and do other things."
On September 8, 2024, Vikas Sethi's death news shook the entire nation. The actor was only 48-years-old and passed away after a sudden cardiac arrest. As per his wife, Jhanvi, the actor, was not well from the previous night and passed away in his sleep. Vikas is survived by his mother, wife and twin sons.
