Alia Bhatt has become one of the most prominent names in the Hindi film industry. Over the course of her more than a decade-long career, she has delivered some of the best films in the industry and worked with renowned filmmakers. Among them has been her father, Mahesh Bhatt, with whom she worked on the 2020 action drama, Sadak 2. However, she is yet to work with her father's close associate and director, Vikram Bhatt.
Vikram Bhatt made his directorial debut in 1992 with Jaanam, after assisting Mahesh Bhatt on films like Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Junoon. While the 55-year-old filmmaker has worked with Mahesh's eldest daughter, Pooja Bhatt in Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, he never directed his younger one, Alia. Recently, Vikram shared the reason behind not working with the 31-year-old actress.

During a conversation with News18 Showsha, Vikram revealed he never asked Mahesh Bhatt to help him cast Alia in his films nor did he expect the actress to work with him. The filmmaker further emphasised that his bond with Alia's father is exclusive and doesn't involve families. Sharing that he doesn't make films which might interest Alia, Vikram added:
“Her father and I share a relationship that is exclusive and doesn’t involve our families. I don’t think I make the kind of films that Alia Bhatt would be interested in. She has her own universe and choices, and I’ve never gone to Bhatt saab and asked him to get Alia for a particular role. Our relationship isn’t like that.”
In the same interview, Vikram Bhatt also discussed the new generation of actors and praised Janhvi Kapoor for her choice of films. He applauded the starlet for carving a niche for herself in a male-dominated industry. Revealing that he doesn't care about the success or failures of Janhvi's films, the filmmaker mentioned:
“There are girls I really admire for their grit and choice of roles, like Janhvi. I don’t care what people say about her films’ success or failure. She has chosen not to latch onto some star or become the second heroine to a third hero. She has refused to do that.”

Furthermore, Vikram Bhatt addressed the debate around Janhvi being a nepo kid and highlighted that she has stood out of the crowd due to her risky choices of films. The filmmaker also commended the actress for trying to do something different than just chasing success. He was quoted as saying:
"Her films center on her. She has had opportunities to prove her skills, and I admire that about her. Nepo kid or not, that doesn’t matter. Here’s someone who’s trying to do something different. I think that’s more sensible than just chasing success at the cost of being a nobody in a film, which only gives you the illusion of success when, in fact, you had nothing to do with it."
