Actor, Vikrant Massey shocked his fans with his sudden retirement announcement on December 2, 2024. Fans had hoped to see many other such projects from the actor, but Vikrant had different plans as he shocked everyone with an Instagram announcement earlier that day. However, he has now spoken up about the post and shared that it has been misinterpreted.
The 12th Fail actor, Vikrant Massey, is not done with his acting career yet. The actor clarified the misunderstanding in a conversation with News18 Showsha. Vikrant revealed that he is not retiring from the film industry. He shared that fans have confused his hiatus with a retirement announcement, and he is only taking a break from the industry. He said:
"I’m not retiring. I am burned out and need a long break. I miss home, and my health is also acting up. People misread it (the Instagram post)."
Vikrant Massey took to his Instagram handle in the early hours of December 2, 2024, and announced his decision. He penned a note sharing that he has decided to take a step away from his acting career and focus on being there for his family. Vikrant had also shared the desire to spend time with his family to be there as a husband, father and son. He thanked his fans for the immense love they have showered him with and even shared that he has two more movies in the making that will be released in 2025. His Instagram post read:
"Hello. The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So, in 2025, we will meet each other for one last time until the time is deemed right. The last two movies and many a year of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted."
Vikrant Massey's announcement started an entire debate regarding whether the decision was a brave move or a smart PR gimmick. Many fans argued that the actor's post was a 'See you later' and not a 'Goodbye' and even hailed him for prioritising his family, saying that he has been in the industry for ages and it would be good for him to take some time off.
However, others called it a publicity stunt, claiming that there was more to it than what met the eye. Vikrant had not made any statements elaborating on his post before this. Nonetheless, this statement comes at a time when fans really needed clarity on the matter.
