Vikrant Massey reveals he left television despite getting paid Rs. 35 lakhs monthly

In a recent interaction on the podcast, Unfiltered With Samdish, Vikrant Massey talked about why he chose to quit television at the peak of his career. The actor, who was quite popular with his skills and even handsome remuneration, claimed that at the end of the day, he wasn’t able to sleep peacefully at night. Expressing more about it, he narrated:

“I earned a lot of money when working in TV. I bought my first home at 24, I was earning 35 lakh per month. It was a lot for someone from a family like mine where we struggled to make ends meet. After I bought the home, paid off debts, gave my parents a better life, I still couldn’t sleep peacefully. I quit at that stage because good work felt more important.”

Vikrant once claimed he realised television content more regressive towards females

Previously, in an interaction with ABP Live, Vikrant Massey retrospected his decision of never returning to the television space, despite being immensely popular and successful in it. He highlighted that he finds the content made over television these days quite regressive in nature, particularly towards women. Vikrant further credited his only show, Balika Vadhu for representing a radically different perspective towards women. In his words:

“There was a reason why I left television. I do not enjoy television because I do not subscribe to the kind of content they are making. I find it very regressive even today. Maybe it's their definition of entertainment. They give substandard parts to women. I was a part of ‘Balika Vadhu’ and the show empowered hundreds and millions of people. I can proudly say the show contributed to a lot about women's safety and girl child education. After doing that kind of content, I had a lot of fights with the makers and I have walked out of a few shows. I do not subscribe to their regressive content.”
