Only if you have grown with a sibling in the house, you would know that they are the best thing that ever happened to you. Love them or hate them, the relationship that siblings share is one of a kind and life seems like the year 2020 when you haven’t met them for a long time. They are annoying and interfering, but you can’t think of anyone else when you want some extra pocket money, borrow clothes or discuss life. Siblings are the first friends you make, who stay with you till the last. The captain of the Indian cricket team, Virat Kohli is blessed with not one but two siblings, an elder brother, Vikas Kohli and an elder sister, Bhavna Kohli. Born in a Punjabi Hindu family, Virat Kohli was raised in Delhi and as per his family, he would pick up a cricket bat, start swinging it and ask his father to bowl at him when he was just 3-year-old. Being the youngest, Virat would have been the most pampered one in the Kohli household. The nation’s heartthrob and ace cricketer, Virat had broken millions of hearts when he had tied the knot with the superstar of Bollywood, Anushka Sharma. Anushka and Virat both share a warm bond with their in-laws.
On June 3, 2020, Virat Kohli’s brother, Vikas Kohli turned 39 and to mark the special day, the ace cricketer took to his IG story to post a throwback picture with his ‘biradar’. In the picture, we can see the little bundle of cuteness, Virat sitting in his pram, dressed in a white onesie while his brother posed for the camera. Virat wrote, “Happy birthday biradar. One away from 40” followed by teasing emojis.
According to India Today, in an interview for his app, Virat Kohli, who is unarguably the best batsman in the world, had revealed why he was not allowed to bat during his childhood. Recalling how his elder brother and his friends would not allow him to bat and would all just go when his time came, Virat had said, "Mere sath bhot nainsafi bhi hui hai (I went through great injustice). They knew I was passionate about cricket so I would take any position. Whenever it was my turn to bat, they would all just go home and I used to cry that they made me do everything but did not let me bat. It was frustrating at times, but with my cricket he was committed in helping me in every way he could.” (Also Read: Virat Kohli Says Wife, Anushka Understands His Body Language, Shares Their Small Conversations)
Sharing his fondness for his brother, Vikas Kohli, who would take him for cricket practices and matches, Virat Kohli had continued, "My brother is seven years elder to me. I did not spend much time at home with him as he was doing his own set of things with his own set of friends. I remember I always wanted to be a part of their group because I felt that they were cooler. That curiosity used to be there, but they never allowed me as I was too young. He was obviously involved in the business with my dad, but whenever I had a game, he made it a point to take me, watch the game or bring me back when I was really small. When I was older, I used to go by myself. Obviously, he was very important to me. He never compromised on any of my game and his efforts in that were massive. My father's efforts as well but I think my brother ensured that none of the things were compromised."

Virat Kohli is spending his lockdown with wife, Anushka Sharma and her parents at their Mumbai residence. Sometime back, Anushka had posted a picture of a game of their Monopoly with hubby, Virat Kohli and her parents. Speaking about the importance of family in their lives, Anushka had written, “It’s from our primary care givers - family that we learn how to tread the journey of life, how to walk, how to eat, how to socialize & then face the world. This forms our initial conditioning that has a lasting impact on us. In the world we inhabit today, there is a lot of uncertainty and I'm sure a lot of you have found that solace & sense of familiarity with your families.”
Anushka Sharma had further talked about making the most of the moments in the lockdown with the precious ones in your life, “Stay at home to take care of everyone precious in your lives. And also make the most of these moments ... smile, laugh, share, show affection, clear misunderstandings, develop stronger/healthier bonds, discuss life and dreams and pray for a better tomorrow. We all have been moved deeply, we all have been affected deeply and hopefully we will carry forward these lessons in the days to come. And hopefully, we have all conditioned ourselves to relook at the world we inhabited before all of this happened... P.S. : It was a super close game of Monopoly and the competitive side of everyone was out there. Any guesses who won??” Later, Anushka had posted an Insta story, revealing the winner of the Monopoly game and it was none other than the ‘winner of her heart’, Virat Kohli.
