Captain Vikram Batra's rise and shine journey in the 1999 Kargil war, is a source of inspiration for many Indians. Thanks to the movie biopic, Shershaah (starring, Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani), his heroic martyred is known worldwide. However, it is the heartwrenching love story of Param Vir Chakra awardee, Vikram Batra and his girlfriend, Dimple Cheema, that etched the hearts of every Indian.
For the unversed, Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema's relationship was known to their families, and they were about to get married. However, the unfortunate incident had parted them forever, but Dimple chose to stay single even after years of Captain Vikram's death.

In an interview with ETimes, Vikram Batra's twin brother, Vishal Batra, opened up on Dimple's last words to him before his brother's death. He shared that Dimple had asked him if he would have danced with at their wedding.
Vishal stated, "I remember Dimple and I were having lunch together, six days before the ill-fated day. She had come to see me off; I was headed to Delhi for some work. She told me: ‘Jab Vikram vapas aa jayega toh aap hamari shaadi mein nachoge na (After Vikram comes back, you’ll dance at our wedding)?’ I said, ‘Of course, nachunga (I will definitely dance)."

Earlier, in an interview with ETimes, Vikram Batra's father, Mr Giridhar Lal Batra, had revealed that Dimple calls them twice a year to wish them on their birthdays. He further added that they had asked Dimple to get married after the Kargil war, but she had refused. He had stated, "After the Kargil war, we told her to get married as she has a life ahead. Her parents, too, told her the same. But she told us that she wouldn't get married and live the rest of her life with Vikram's memories."
For the unversed, Captain Vikram Batra had laid down his life for the nation during the Kargil war in 1999.
