Vivek Oberoi has been through a lot over the years, thanks to his infamous public fight with Salman Khan over Aishwarya Rai. While the actor himself accepted that it was a rushed act on his part, Vivek faced a lot of hate from the industry people, especially Salman Khan, who made it a point not to forgive him. For the unversed, in the early 2000s, Aishwarya Rai broke up with Salman Khan and started dating Vivek Oberoi. However, Salman wasn't happy about it, and things took an ugly turn when Vivek jumped in and did a press conference against bhai and called him out for abusing and threatening him and his then-ladylove, Aishwarya.
Vivek Oberoi became an easy target for trolls and hate after his infamous fight with Salman Khan. He went through trolling when there wasn't any social media. Recently, in an interview with Zoom, Vivek talked about the same when the interviewer asked him how he overcame the difficult phase. Vivek shared that he had gone through a lot and faced a lot of bully and trolls, but it is the decision how much value you put it. He was quoted as saying:
"This is where I have come, but I've been through the journey probably you have been going through, at office, at schools They are going to be bully, they are going to be trolls, they are going to be vultures, that are going to keep doing it and it is going to affect you. But it is also your decision to allow how much to affect. It is not I wasn't depressed, never broken, but you have to decide what you are going to do. You need to pick up the pieces and make sure you don't get broken again."

"Most of the things I didn’t even know. Vivek never told me. Ramu (Ram Gopal Varma) told me. Before Ramu, somebody else told me. I had made him understand. Samjhaya tha mat karo."
Recently, we stumbled upon an old clip of Vivek Oberoi from Koffee With Karan season 1 (2005). In the video, the host of the show, Karan asked Vivek if he was seeing Aishwarya. To this, the actor happily gave out a big 'yes'. Karan cross-questioned Vivek and asked why Aishwarya never admitted it. This left Vivek visibly upset, and he added that maybe he never asked her. "I didn't had anything against Salman Khan. In fact, I liked the guy. I thought he was quite interesting when I met him before. But yeah in terms of the way he behaved and within the framework of my personal life at that time, trying to protect the lady in my life. I did what I thought was right."
