Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta worked together in the films, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega. They both are all-rounders, who can act brilliantly, dance gracefully and be versatile in every film. Rani and Preity worked with some of the biggest stars in the Hindi film industry and went on to gain superstar status back then. While their careers began and peaked in the same fashion, their fall was equally steep.
Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji gave back-to-back hits at the peak of their careers and bagged many big-budget films. Due to this, the duo were pitted against each other and were rivals. However, many people also hailed Rani and Preity as the 'Siamese Twins', as their bonding was always friendly, despite the competition on the professional fronts. Although both these actresses are out of the rat race now, their super-stardom status is a rare accomplishment to date.

Once in an interview with a leading portal, Preity Zinta opened up about her equation with Rani Mukerji and shared that they are not the best of friends. Calling the latter a very talented actress, Preity shared that their on-screen jodi is like Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. However, she added that while the media tagged her and Rani as 'Siamese Twins', they never even visited each other's house. In her words:
"I have said repeatedly that Rani and I are not the best of friends. But yes, we have given hit films together. Rani is a very sensible and a very talented actress. I love having her as my co-star. I always tell her that her jodi is something like Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. But personally, we are like chalk and cheese, not the best of friends. I have never been to her house, neither had she come to mine. We've never gone to parties together. It is the media which built up our Siamese twins' image."
Though Preity was irked with her and Rani's Siamese twins' image, she didn't hesitate before heaping praises on the latter. In the same interview, the Soldier actress shared that she always liked the way Rani worked. Revealing if she ever gets jealous of Rani's power-packed performances in films, Preity shared that she takes it in a very positive way and pushes herself to become better. She was quoted as saying:
"I think Rani is a very good actor. I have always liked her performances. I have always liked the way she works. And it's really nice because when there are good actors, you obviously want to do better and if there is quality, then it gives you a better chance to do things better. So I think yes, her work affects me in a very positive way. Because in some way out of all the actors I've worked with, out of my generation of actors, my contemporaries, I think she is the best."

When Rani Mukerji appeared on Karan Johar’s show, Koffee With Karan, with Kareena Kapoor Khan, she made a shocking revelation about her ‘not so friendly’ relationship with Preity Zinta. Mentioning that since she shares some resemblance with the fellow actress and had a comfortable bond with her, the media thought that they were best friends. Rani Mukerji added:
“I think maybe because me and Preity, we look the same, we both are the same kind of body language and all so we look great together onscreen. When journalists came on the sets, what they saw was that Preity and me were very comfortable on the sets with each other when we were working and I guess that was blown out of proportion in magazines. We tried to clear out to people that we are not really the best of friends and we don’t go out together but no one was buying that. But that is the fact.”
