Life is so much better when you have someone by your side, who’s always there for you, during the good, bad and great times. Someone who is the ‘forever’ in your BFF. Someone with whom, you can be yourself without the fear of being judged. They’re your biggest cheerleader and your worst critic, who constantly pushes you to be the best version of yourself. B-town’s Brahmastra trio, Cupid Ayan Mukerji and lovebirds, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, share a similar kind of relationship with each other. Ever since Ayan Mukerji had roped in Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt for his film, Brahmastra, the trio never fails to make the headlines. It was two years ago, when Alia and Ranbir had walked hand-in-hand at Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand S Ahuja’s wedding reception and it came as an official confirmation about their brewing romance. The lovebirds were then joined by their director-friend, Ayan, and they had posed for the shutterbugs at the wedding reception. Over their two years of togetherness, Ayan, Ranbir and Alia have become each other’s families, who have stood by one another as pillars of strength at times of need.
It was in 2018, when Ranbir Kapoor’s father, Rishi Kapoor had tweeted a picture of his son with Ayan Mukerji and had suggested that it’s high time they both should get married now. Rishi Kapoor had tweeted, “Best friends! How about you both getting married now? High time!” On April 30, 2020, when Rishi Kapoor had taken his last breath, Ayan had stood as a constant support for the Kapoor family and he was also spotted at the last rites of the late veteran actor.

Time and again, we have seen Alia Bhatt’s penchant towards her crush, Ranbir Kapoor and finally, their Cupid, Ayan Mukerji’s dream project, Brahmastra made ‘Ralia’ happen, on-screen as well as off-screen. Every movie buff had marked their calendars for Brahmastra as the film finally got a release date, December 4, 2020, and the leaked clips from the sets of the movie had made the wait even more difficult. Besides the release date of Brahmastra, the major highlight of the announcement video of the same was Ayan referring to Alia as Ranbir’s ‘girlfriend’. In case you missed it, here’s the announcement video of the release date of Brahmastra. P.S. Don’t miss Ayan saying, "Tell your girlfriend to stop recording. She is always recording something" in the video. Did you know Alia Bhatt had begged Ayan Mukerji to cast her opposite Ranbir Kapoor in his film, Brahmastra. In an interview with the Firstpost, Alia had stated, “The idea for Brahmastra was conceived long back when Ayan had just done Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. I wanted to work with him and I have always wanted to work with Ranbir as well. I pleaded to Ayan that please cast me with him.” Alia had ringed in 2020 with her ‘best boys’ in Bangkok. Giving a glimpse of the same, Alia had posted a picture with Ayan and Ranbir, from their cruise and had captioned it, “best boys (& good girl).”
Coming back to Ranbir Kapoor and his father, Rishi Kapoor, in 2018, the latter had commented on his son’s relationship with Alia Bhatt. In an interview with the Mid-Day, Rishi Kapoor had indirectly dropped every possible confirmation on Alia and Ranbir’s budding relationship. He had shared, “Jo hai woh hai, sabko pata hai. I don't need to say anything more.” Expressing that he feels that its high time for Ranbir to get married, Rishi Kapoor had continued, “It is high time he got married. I settled down when I was 27, Ranbir is 35. So he should think about marriage. He can marry anyone of his choice; we don't have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone. [Be it] Ranbir or his contemporaries, actors have blinkers on and are focused on their work. The only women they meet are the actresses. They don't socialise as much; that is the flipside of life in the movies.”
Rishi Kapoor had also shared that Ranbir Kapoor brushes aside the topic of marriage whenever he or Neetu Kapoor brings it up. He had stated, “I haven't been vocal about it, but my wife [Neetu Kapoor] keeps bringing it up with him and he just brushes the question away. Whenever he is ready for it, we will be happy. Our happiness lies in his happiness, after all.” In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Rishi Kapoor had shared that he likes Alia Bhatt and had remarked, “It’s Ranbir’s life. Who he wants to get married to is his prerogative. Neetu likes her, I like her, Ranbir likes her. Get it? I can’t be judgmental. After all, my uncles Shammiji and Shashiji and I chose our life partners. Ranbir is entitled to choose his.” (Also Read: Rare And Unseen Pictures Of Rishi Kapoor: A Throwback To His Childhood And Moments Spent With Family)
