On the personal front, Mouni Roy married businessman Suraj Nambiar in Goa in 2022. The couple tied the knot as per both Malayali and Bengali traditions. Who is Suraj Nambiar?
Born in Bengaluru, Suraj Nambiar is a Dubai-based businessman and investment banker. He is a Malayali with his roots in Kerala. As per multiple reports, Suraj completed his schooling at Jain International Residential School, Bengaluru, and later completed his Civil Engineering degree from R.V. College of Engineering, Bengaluru. He then worked as an intern in Ashoka and worked there for a few months.
He then went on to work with Invicus as a Lead and with the Sherwood Institute as a Country Representative. He attended the Intensive Summer Program (Managerial Accounting and Microeconomics) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2013. In the same year, he also did an International Management course in Investment Science from Stanford University.
Suraj Nambiar’s business ventures
In 2015, Suraj moved to Dubai, joined JLL as an Assistant Analyst, and was later promoted to Director, Head of Capital Markets, UAE. In 2021, Suraj founded Alpharock Ventures, and he is currently its CEO.

Regarding Suraj’s parents, his father, Rajaram Nambiar, is reportedly a Financial Adviser, while his mother, Renuka Nambiar, is a professional singer. Suraj also has a younger brother, Neeraj Nambiar, who is the co-founder of Voorpret.

Suraj Nambiar and Mouni Roy reportedly met through mutual friends and grew close. It was during the pandemic when rumours about Mouni and Suraj surfaced in the media as she spent long periods in Dubai. In 2019, Mouni's close friend, Roopali, had shared a picture of her and Suraj chilling together in a poolside selfie that had ignited their relationship reports.
However, the two had never shared or addressed their relationship rumours in the media, but had proved their doubters wrong after tying the knot on January 27, 2022. The duo tied the knot as per Malayali and Bengali rituals. Sharing pictures from her wedding, Mouni penned a note which can be read as:
"I found him at last... Hand in hand, blessed by family & friends, We re married!!!!!!!!!!! Need your love and blessings… 27.01.22 Love, Suraj & Mouni."
Suraj Nambiar’s professional association with Mouni
Not just husband and wife, but Suraj Nambiar has also been professionally associated with his wife, Mouni, since their marriage. In February 2022, the couple launched a global Ed-Tech platform named Ultimate Gurus. After an entire year had passed, in 2023, the duo entered the hotel industry with a restaurant brand called Badmaash in Mumbai.

Mouni and Suraj’s divorce rumours began when social media users realised that Mouni’s social media handle had no recent posts of her husband, Suraj Nambiar. Soon, people also pointed out that the duo had even unfollowed each other, sparking speculation that all was not well in Mouni and Suraj’s paradise. Fuelling the ongoing rumours, it was also reported that Mouni’s close friend, Disha Patani, too has unfollowed Suraj on Instagram.
