Wrestler Bajrang Punia Credits His Wife, Sangeeta Phogat For Winning Bronze Medal In Tokyo Olympics

Tokyo Olympics 2020 was the first time when Indian wrestler, Bajrang Punia had participated in the prestigious game, and the whole nation had a lot of expectations from him. The reason behind those high hopes was the fact that Bajrang is currently ranked at number two in the 65 kg weight category in the world. No wonder he had fulfiled his promise after defeating his opponent 8-0 in the play-off round to win a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics.

Bajrang Punia hails from Haryana and is the only Indian wrestler ever to have bagged three medals at the prestigious World Wrestling Championship. After his heroic performance in the Tokyo Olympics, the wrestler is getting sheer love and respect from across India. However, in his recent social media post, Bajrang has given credit to his wrestler-wife, Sangeeta Phogat, for supporting him like a rock.

On August 11, 2021, Indian wrestler, Bajrang Punia took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture with his wife and wrestler, Sangeeta Phogat. The lovely couple looked beautiful together in the picture, holding and flaunting the Olympic bronze medal, which Bajrang had won in 65 kg wrestling in the Tokyo Olympics. However, it was his caption that won everyone's heart, as he gave credit for his win to Sangeeta for always pushing him and supporting him, in the darkest and toughest moments, like his own shadow. His caption can be read as "Finally sharing it with my better half. It's her moral support and love that gives me that "extra" boost to excel."

There's no denying the fact that Sangeeta Phogat had supported her husband, Bajrang Punia, at every step of his journey in the Tokyo Olympics and multiple proofs of the same are quite visible on her Instagram handle. From cheering up for him to posting videos of Bajrang with the powerful caption, the doting wife had simply done everything in her capabilities. When her husband had won the Olympic bronze medal, Sangeeta's post on her IG handle had gone viral all over the internet.

Sangeeta Phogat had taken to her IG handle and had posted a stunning picture of Bajrang Punia standing tall with immense pride while holding the bronze medal in his hands as he was posing for the international media. Along with this priceless picture, Sangeeta had penned a note for Bajrang in which she had revealed that her husband had promised her to return home from the Olympics with a medal. Her caption could be read as "The You are a champion and you shall remain one. All the moments we stayed apart you had promised me accomplishments……you kept your promise. Thank you. I know you were going to prove the haters wrong. I love you honey…….I will be waiting for you."
