No matter, whether you like rappers or not, but you cannot simply ignore the craze of Hip-Hop in the minds and the hearts of millions of Indians. While there are many renowned artists in the field, one person, who has created the revolution of rap (when it was an alienated subject) is none other than Yo Yo Honey Singh. Hridesh Singh aka Yo Yo Honey Singh (stage name) became an instant hit amongst the teens and the youngsters with his YouTube videos and catchy Punjabi and Hindi rap songs. He was right when in a media interaction, he had said, "Main khali CD bhi beechu, to bhi mai bikta rahunga." People are still crazy for getting his one look and his songs still have the same magic. But there was a time when he had disappeared from the public eye for 18 months. While media was speculating that he was in rehab, the rapper was actually fighting depression and alcoholism.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Honey talked about his battle against depression. He shared, "It was a terrible phase for me. A lot was going on with my mental well being. I had become an alcoholic as well. I used to not sleep so the disease started growing slowly inside me. It took me 3-4 months to accept that I'm actually not well. It was a dark phase and I would request everyone to not hide it. Especially, an artists is like a mirror for an audience. When we can share every bit of our lives, why not this?"
The rapper further added, "People asked me where I had disappeared for two and a half years. So then I felt it's important to speak up. I was unwell and I got well. I remember making Dheere Dheere for Hrithik Roshan during that phase and it turned out to be the biggest hit at that time." However, during his difficult times, it was his family that became a pillar of strength for him. Honey revealed, "The entire family and friends took care of me. In fact, there are many people from the industry who supported me. Shah Rukh bhai and Deepika Padukone helped me and since Deepika has also been through a similar phase, so she shared a Delhi based doctor's number with my family for me. They all prayed for me to get well and main theek ho gaya." (Also Read: Divya Agarwal Defends Beau, Varun Sood, Slamming a Troll For Calling Him A Replacement For Raftaar)
For those who don't know, Honey Singh is married to his childhood sweetheart, Shalini Talwar. On January 23, 2011, the duo had tied the knot. In an interview with Replubic, the singer had talked about his wife and had said, "My wife and I have known each other for 17 years. She has been supportive throughout my bad phase, when even my family didn’t know how to handle the situation. She is a brave lady and because of her, many things in my life have become splendid. She is a good critic as well. She does not always praise my songs." (Don't Miss: Kangana Ranaut Shares A Childhood Photo In School Uniform, Penned Her Feelings About Logic And Fear)
