Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma have been living separately for a while now. It was reported on March 19, 2025, that the final decision would be made on March 20, 2025. The order had come directly from the Bombay High Court, and now the couple has arrived at the family court for the final hearing.
It was earlier reported by the bar and bench that the Bombay High Court issued an order on March 19, 2025, to the family court to decide on the divorce of Indian cricketer, Yuzvendra Chahal and actor-choreographer, Dhanashree Verma on March 20, 2025. The couple was photographed outside the family court, confirming the news of their separation. It was Yuzvendra who was first seen arriving at the courthouse. The cricketer dressed in a grey lower, black T-shirt and matching jacket was seen heading towards the court with his lawyers.
Yuzvendra Chahal covered his face with a mask and avoided interacting with the paparazzi as he headed inside. Soon after, Dhanashree Verma was also captured as she arrived at the family court. The dancer rushed inside and avoided any interaction with the media as well. She was dressed in light-washed denim pants and a white T-shirt. She covered her face with a mask and sunglasses.
As the paparazzi were trying to get pictures of Dhanashree, a lady got pushed and fell during the commotion. Dhanashree got angry and said, 'Kya kar rahe ho aap?' before turning to the lady and making sure she was fine. The dancer then went inside.
According to the report by the bar and bench, Yuzvendra and Dhanashree had asked the court to allow them to get the divorce sooner. They requested the court to finalise their case without having to explore possibilities of maintaining their marriage. For the unversed, a six-month cooling-off period is required by section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act before the divorce can be legally granted. When the couple filed for divorce, they stated 'compatibility issues' as the primary cause for their split.

The court considered the fact that they had been living separately for a long time and had also reached an agreement on the issue of alimony payment during the previous mediation. So, despite the cooling-off period, the court has referred to the Supreme Court's ruling in 2017 that if there is no dispute regarding the settlement between both parties, then this cooling-off period can be waived.
It was on February 20, 2025, when the family court denied Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma's request for an early divorce, citing the cricketer's partial compliance with the terms of the settlement. Yuzvendra had agreed to pay Rs. 4.75 crores as alimony but had only paid Rs. 2.37 crores at the time of the hearing. However, when the case went to the high court, Justice Madhav Jamdar ruled that the second instalment could be paid as permanent alimony after the divorce.
