Sanjay Khan's relationship with Zeenat Aman had been the point of discussion in the late '80s. Their sizzling romance made headlines, while the filmmaker was married to Zarine Khan at the time. However, Sanjay and Zeenat's romance was short-lived, and it was rumoured that the former had turned violent towards her in a hotel lobby, causing her a serious eye injury. Recently, Sanjay Khan's son, Zayed Khan talked about his father's affair.
In an interview with Zoom, Zayed Khan was questioned about his father's scandalous relationship with Zeenat Aman. He recalled that his father wasn't just the one with a scandalous affair, and the entire industry in the 1970s and 1980s had been through it. The actor stated that the earlier superstars had eccentric personalities. He said:

"It wasn’t just at my dad’s house but was happening in every actor’s house. Every person was highly eccentric except one or two oddballs who were really sincere and grounded; the rest of them… phew! When I was young, I used to see these guys partying and dressing up in those jazzy Versace shirts and their things. It was a whole different era back then. They were real personalities."

For the unversed, Zeenat Aman, who was one of the most successful heroines of her time had gotten an eye injury as she was assaulted by her once-lover, Sanjay Khan. Later, Zeenat Aman accused him of slapping her in public, and because of which, she had a major eye injury. For those who don't know, Zeenat Aman and Sanjay Khan fell in love while working together on the film, Abdullah. In 1978, the couple tied the knot secretly with only two witnesses in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. However, their wedding ended within a year, and it was a traumatic one.
If reports are to be believed, it was revealed that Sanjay Khan was partying in the hotel, Taj with his first wife, Zarine Katrak. However, when Zeenat reached the place to settle an issue about the film's date, Sanjay was shocked to see her. He took her to a room, wherein she was brutally thrashed and beaten. According to a source, he pulled her by her hair and punched her, which left one of Zeenat's eyes permanently damaged. The scary incident was witnessed by friends and family.

A source close to Zeenat has come in support of her after Sanjay Khan published his autobiography and denied slapping the then-famous actress. The source revealed that he had witnessed the incident and that he should be in jail and not writing his self-glorifying fairytale biography. The source further shared:
"And secondly, if you were brazen enough to humiliate and hurt a lady in public, why are you shy of admitting it now? This is as bad as the film Sanju which completely whitewashed Sanjay Dutt’s image."
