Veteran actress, Zeenat Aman was an iconic actress of her generation. In 1970, she became the first Indian to win the Miss Asia Pacific pageant at the mere age of 19. Afterwards, she made her acting debut in 1971 with the film, Hare Ram Hare Krishna. Following this, she appeared in many films like Satyam Shivam Sundaram: Love Sublime, Don, Yaadon Ki Baarat, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, and others. However, she once underwent a severe eye injury, which was allegedly caused by her second husband, Mazhar Khan, that became a hurdle in Zeenat's career. Now, she opened up about the same and mentioned how she finally got cured.
A few moments back, on November 7, 2023, Zeenat Aman took to her IG handle and shared two pictures shot from inside a hospital room. In the pictures, her son, Zaahan Khan was seen giving a peck of love on her head, and the actress was seen dressed in a white hospital uniform. Along with it, she penned a long note revealing that she faced a condition for the last 40 years, known as ptosis, which caused damage to the muscles around her right eye. She penned:

"On 18th May 2023, I shot for the cover of Vogue India. On 19th May 2023, I woke up early in the morning, packed a small suitcase, and kissed Lily on her muzzle. Then Zahaan and Cara drove me to Hinduja hospital in Khar. There has been an elephant in the room with me for the past 40 years. I have a condition know as ptosis - the result of an injury I suffered many decades ago that damaged the muscles around my right eye."

On the same note, Zeenat hinted at the gossip written about her then and talked about the challenges, she faced due to this in her career. She also mentioned how her eye condition made her a subject of unwanted attention. Moreover, it also narrowed down her opportunities. She wrote:
"Over the years, it caused my eyelid to droop further and further. And a few years ago it became so acute that it began to obstruct my vision. When so much of one’s career is predicated on one’s appearance, coming to terms with a dramatic change to it is difficult. I know for a fact that this ptosis narrowed my opportunities and made me the subject of unwanted attention. But despite the gossip, the comments, and the questions, I never felt diminished by it. It helped of course that there were always a few stalwarts that stood by me and chose to work with me still. The treatments available to me at that time, and for decades after, were unsuccessful."
Further, the Yaadon Ki Baarat actress revealed that for a long time, she dithered the treatment. However, finally, in April 2023, she underwent a series of tests and affirmed about undergoing the treatment. However, just before her OT, she was extremely nervous, and at that time, her son, Zaahan's small gesture for her, relieved her. She then thanked her medical team and her family for the same and concluded:
"Then this year in April, a leading ophthalmologist informed me that things had advanced, and a surgery to lift the eyelid and restore my field of vision was possible. I dithered for a long time, then underwent a battery of tests and finally committed to the procedure. That morning in the hospital I was terrified. My extremities turned icy and involuntarily shivers racked my body. Zahaan kissed my forehead, reassured me and wheeled me to the OT, where I surrendered to the hands of my medical team. I emerged from there an hour later - alive, well and looking like a pirate with an eye patch. Recovery has been slow, steady and is ongoing. But I’m happy to share that my vision is so much clearer now. This post can not conclude without a word of gratitude to my family, the absolutely stellar staff at Hinduja hospital, and especially the brilliant Dr. Savari Desai."

Talking about her personal life, Zeenat tied the knot for the first time in 1978 with the already-married man, Sanjay Khan. Soon, Sanjay left her, and their wedding was annulled in 1979. Afterwards, she married Mazhar Khan in 1985 and welcomed two sons, Azaan Khan and Zahaan Khan. However, her second marriage was full of kicks and slaps that the filmmaker inflicted on her, and she had to deal with a lot of emotional and physical turmoil. Everything reached its extremities when Mazhar had beaten her in such a way that Zeenat's eye was permanently damaged. Finally, in 1988, she decided to part ways with him just before his death. Since then, she single-handedly took all the responsibility of her sons.
