Zeeshan Siddique, the current MLA of Maharashtra and the son of Baba Siddique, is still processing his father’s brutal assassination on October 12, 2024. A fortnight after the incident, Zeeshan addressed the speculations surrounding Baba Siddique’s murder and Salman Khan’s support amid death threats.
Zeeshan Siddique recently joined BBC Hindi for an interview talking about Baba Siddique’s murder and sharing the bond he shared with Salman Khan. The former minister was shot outside Zeeshan’s office in Bandra East on October 12, 2024, and was immediately hospitalised, but unfortunately, he succumbed to death.

When asked about his relationship with celeb friends like Salman, Shilpa Shetty and Sanjay Dutt, Zeeshan revealed that he viewed them more as family members than celebrities. This is what he told BBC Hindi:
“Humesha se jo pitaji ke dost rahe hai, main unko celebrities to nahi maanta hu, kyuki aapke ghar pe, paarivarik jo dost hote hain, wo ghar ke sadasya jaise hi hote hai. Jitna ghar ke sadasya ki ahmiyat hoti hai, waise bhai ki ahmiyat hai. (The ones who have always been my father's friends, I don't consider them celebrities because family friends are like members of the family. Just as a family member holds importance, that's how significant bhai is.”

Zeeshan Siddique shares that Salman Khan has been quite upset after the incident, adding that his father and Salman were close like real brothers. He was also among the first celebrities to attend Baba Siddique at the hospital. He added that the actor has been nothing short of a brother to the family since Baba Siddique’s demise. He’s confident he’ll always have Bhaijaan’s support during difficult times. He said:
“Pitaji or Salman Bhai to humesha sage bhai jaise hi dost the, aur pitaji ke jaane ke baad bhi bhai ne bohot support kiya hai, humesha karte hai. Raat ko neend nahi aati, ye sab baat karte hai, to humesha unka support raha hai (Dad and Salman Bhai were close like real brothers. After Dad’s death, bhai has supported us a lot. He always checks in on me and talks to me about being unable to sleep at night. His support is always there and will continue the same)”
Bollywood icon, Salman Khan has long been friends with the former NCP leader, Baba Siddique. Salman has amped up his security after Baba Siddique’s murder to safeguard him from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. The minister was a well-known face among Bollywood’s A-listers for throwing lavish iftar parties every year. He was also responsible for mending the rift between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, leading to their famous hug in 2013 at Siddique’s iftar party in Mumbai.
