In recent times, the Hallyu showbiz has been buzzing with the news of celebrity dating rumours. Just a few days ago, it was reported that South Korean footballer, Lee Kang In has gotten romantically intertwined with Lee Na Eun. A Korean media outlet, The Fact released a few paparazzi photos claiming that the 24-year-old actress and former idol, Lee Na Eun and Paris Saint-Germain's Korean soccer star, Lee Kang In, are dating. However, both have denied such speculations.
Another dating rumour involving a football star and a female idol has surfaced. This time, the individuals involved are Yang Yena and Seol Young Woo. For the unversed, Yang Yena was born in the year 2000 and started her career as a member of the K-pop girl group, April, in 2015. However, after the group disbanded in 2022, Yena decided to pursue a career in acting. On the other hand, Seol Young Woo, born in 1998, is currently playing for Ulsan HD in the K-League 1 and also represents the South Korean national football team.

On January 4, 2023, rumours went rife that 23-year-old former member of the K-pop girl group, April, Yang Yena, and 25-year-old football player, Seol Young Woo, were dating. These rumours were initially spread through various social media platforms, claiming that the two were seen with ‘couple items’, which hinted at the possibility of the two dating. It was also said that Yang Yena's name was written on the back of Seol Young Woo's soccer shoes. However, neither Yang Yena nor Seol Young Woo has either confirmed or denied these rumours.
The speculation first started when the 25-year-old footballer, Seol Young Woo made an appearance on the MBC variety show, Omniscient Interfering View, where he provided viewers with a sneak peek into his life as a professional soccer player in the K-League 1. After the show, some netizens discovered that Yang Yena had previously shared some photos on her social media accounts with the same phone case and hat that Seol Young Woo had. Moreover, it was found that Seol Young Woo had been wearing customised shoes during his games, with the name ‘YENA’ inscribed on the back.

There have been several posts circulating on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that Seol Young Woo and Yang Yena are dating. Some people speculate that Seol Young Woo might have been the one who introduced Lee Kang In and Lee Na Eun to each other. This is because both Lee Na Eun and Yang Yena are former members of the K-pop girl group, April, while Lee Kang In and Seol Young Woo have been good friends since they started playing for the national team together. Moreover, netizens have taken to the comment section of Yang Ye Na and Seol Young Woo’s posts on their respective official Instagram accounts and have been asking the duo about their alleged relationship. Regarding the rumours of the alleged romance, Seol Young Woo’s team, Ulsan HD, stated that they have no knowledge of the personal life of their said player. They further mentioned that they are in no position to comment on his personal matter. The team also tried to contact Yang Yena’s agency but was unable to reach them.
