Kim Hyun-ah, popularly known as HyunA, is a South Korean singer, rapper, lyricist, and model. She debuted in K-pop in 2007 with the group, Wonder Girls, however, she left it and joined another group under Cube Entertainment named 4Minute in 2009. The group became one of the most popular girl groups in the country. After this, HyunA was also part of groups such as Trouble Maker and Triple H. She rose to immense popularity in 2012 after she appeared in the duet rendition of Psy’s Gangnam Style.
Apart from her professional front, HyunA’s professional life has also garnered much attention from the media. She was dating Dawn from the K-pop group, Pentagon. The duo started dating in 2016 and were together for six years before parting ways in 2022. However, there were reports recently which suggested that the duo has reconciled, but that does not seem to be the case as HyunA publicly announced her new relationship.

On January 18, 2024, HyunA took to her official Instagram account and uploaded a post in which she was seen with Yong Jun Hyung. The latter is a South Korean singer, rapper and actor, who previously belonged to the K-pop group, Highlight (formerly known as Beast). In the picture, HyunA and Junhyung were strolling at a beach while holding hands. The post was uploaded with a lovey-dovey emoticon as the caption, and she also tagged Yong Jun Hyung’s IG account. The same picture was posted by Junhyung on his Instagram account as well.
However, their alleged relationship has caused an uproar among the fans of HyunA. For those unaware, Junhyung was involved in the 2019 Burning Sun scandal, which exposed the involvement of several K-pop idols and police officers in taking non-consensual illicit videos of several women. They were also accused of sharing those videos in group chats. The group comprised Korean celebrities such as Jung Joon Young, Yong Jun Hyung, and Choi Jong Hoon, who were reportedly connected to the Burning Sun bar owned by the ex-BIGBANG member, Seungri.
After the police got wind of the situation, they started investigating to uncover more details on the scandal. Junhyung allegedly confessed to watching illegal videos that were shared in the group chat. Fans were disappointed to see HyunA, who has always been vocal about her support for women's rights and empowerment, being associated with Junhyung, who was involved in the scandal. HyunA’s agency, AT AREA, released a statement after the K-pop soloist publicly announced her relationship with Junhyung. The statement can be shared with the Korean media outlet, Joy News24, and it can be read as:
“We are not involved in [HyunA’s] personal matters. - AT AREA”
Shortly after the public announcement by HyunA’s agency, Junhyung also shared their response regarding the involvement of the singer-actor with HyunA. They shared their announcement with the Korean media outlet, Newsen, and it can be read as:
“As it is the artist’s private life, it is difficult to confirm. We ask for your understanding. - BLACK MADE”
In 2008, after leaving her agency, JYP, HyunA joined Cube Entertainment and became a member of the girl group 4MINUTE. And Yong Jun Hyung made his debut with Cube in 2009 with the boy group, Beast, after he appeared in the TV documentary series, MTV B2ST. The two had a close relationship, and their bond deepened after HyunA started her solo career. They often performed together at music concerts in flirty ways. In 2016, both Yong Jun Hyung and HyunA appeared as guests on the variety show, Happy Together. When the hosts asked about their relationship, they were seen getting genuinely flustered. However, they have remained friends for a long time, so it didn't come as a shock to many K-netizens when they found out that the two singers are now dating.
