The annual film festival, Cannes is all set to be back with its 77th edition. The Cannes 2024 will be hosted in the scenic backdrop of the French Riviera from May 14-25, 2024. For the unversed, the Cannes Film Festival is held each year to preview new films of all genres from all around the globe. While many details about the 77th Cannes Film Festival is still awaited, we recently came to know that a famous YouTuber is going to create history by walking down the red carpet of the same. YouTuber chef, Sanjyot Keer is all set to make every Indian proud as he will be the second Indian chef to grace the red carpet of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival after Vikas Khanna.

Who is Sanjyot Keer?

Sanjyot Keer is an Indian chef and a famous internet personality. He also worked as a food producer for the fourth season of the much-loved cooking reality show, Master Chef India 2015, and worked alongside famous chefs such as Vikas Khanna, Sanjeev Kapoor, and Ranveer Brar. He won much recognition for his cooking videos on Facebook and YouTube. In 2016, Sanjyot started getting recognition for his work after he began his YouTube journey and launched his cooking channel, Your Food Lab (YFL), which now has 5.56 Million subscribers. On Instagram, Sanjyot enjoys a massive fanbase of 240K.

It was in 2016 when Sanjyot released the first series of his cooking videos which garnered much love from the audience. His channel mainly features recipes for Indian comfort food such as Tandoori Momos, Peri Peri Dosa, and Khakra Sandwiches, among others. His first video featured a recipe for Pizza dosa, which brought the chef 30K views within just 24 hours, so one can only imagine how much Sanjyot is loved by his fans. 

In 2018, Sanjyot ventured into tiffin-friendly food on Food Lab Junior, which is hosted by his five-year-old nephew, Iyan. Apart from that, Sanjyot also produced an award-winning short film, Before We Die, which showcases the water crisis in Maharashtra.

Sanjyot Keer is the second Indian chef to walk the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival 2024

Sanjyot Keer is all set to walk the red carpet of Cannes 2024 on May 17, 2024. Talking about the same in an interview with ETimes, he mentioned that getting an invitation from Cannes made him feel extremely grateful. He also added that in the last eight years of his journey, he made his food videos feel like cinema in his own way of storytelling. Sanjyot mentioned that as a culinary artiste, his aim was to bring perspective to Indian traditional cooking and make it accessible to the worldwide audience. Sanjyot shared:

"The Cannes Film Festival is an incredible stage for cinema and culture. I am grateful to have been invited to experience this Festival in all its glory. In my 8-year journey with Your Food Lab, I have strived hard to make every food video feel like cinema in my own way of storytelling. My life-long goal is to bring a fresh perspective to traditional Indian cooking, making it accessible to audiences worldwide through my work as a culinary artiste.”

What made Sanjyot Keer pursue a career in cooking?

Sanjyot Keer was only 12 years old when he attempted to make his first dish, Pav Bhaji. Talking about the same, he shared that all he wanted was to recreate Pav Bhaji from the street, and it was the beginning. In an interview with The Week, Sanjyot shared the reason that made him pursue cooking, which is all things adorable.

The chef mentioned that when he was a kid, he watched his mom's superpower to make people happy by cooking food, and he wanted to possess the same power as his mom, and that's where he began his journey.
