No list for famous Bollywood romances can ever start without a mention of this 1960 blockbuster epic film, Mughal-e-Azam. This is the story of Mughal prince Salim and courtesan Anarkali who were in love with each other. Emperor Akbar was against their relationship that lead to a war between father and son. The hit song, Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya is till today considered one of the most amazing romantic songs to be ever made. It was one of the highest grossing films ever to be made in the Indian film industry. Such was the popularity of this film that it was digitally coloured and re-released in 2004.
